Marine Training and Boat Tours

Update on Edinburgh Marine Academy and COVID 19

In line with the latest advice issued by the government we have decide to stop running all face to face courses until the restrictions are lifted.  In the meantime we are still open for all our online courses, and are happy to deliver theory courses remotely on an individual basis.

We are very pleased to announce that you are now able to complete your Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper, and Yachtmaster Ocean theory courses online through our partner Navathome.   Our other online theory courses include the RYA VHF course, the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship course, and the professional practices and responsibilities course.  As so many people are required to stay at home over the next few weeks,  this could be a great opportunity to further develop your theory knowledge.

If you already have a practical course booked with us that will be affected by this temporary reduction in activity, then please contact us and we will reschedule you for a date later in the year.  Although none of us are in a position to say when the Academy is likely to return to normal operation, we are hopeful that it will be at early summer so that we can deliver our summer programme.

In the meantime, I would like to thank all our customers for their support over the last few months, and we very much hope to see you all in the summer when things begin to return to normality.  Please contact us if you have any questions regarding the above,

Chris and the Edinburgh Marine Academy team

The Edinburgh Marine Academy offers RYA and MCA training for leisure and commercial boat users, across Scotland and Europe.  The Academy provides courses for those looking to purchase a boat and safely navigate it around coastal waters, up to those looking to work in the commercial sector or a career in superyachts.  The Academy also offers bespoke training solutions such as own boat tuition or refresher courses, and is able to deliver all aspects of training at our Edinburgh base or at your preferred location.

New for 2020 we offer a variety boat tours leaving from Edinburgh, South Queensferry, and our base in Port Edgar Marina.  Tours include short trips around the iconic bridges, longer trips to North Berwick for lunch, or trips to Blackness Castle.  These are scheduled on demand, so please contact us by phone or email with your enquiry.

Gift Vouchers now available!

If you would like to purchase someone a unique and memorable experience, then we now offer gift vouchers.  These can be redeemed towards the cost of any of the activities we offer, such as an RYA Powerboat course or a boat trip for the family.  You can specify which course you would like the voucher to be used for, or leave it up to the individual to choose.  The individual has plenty of time to redeem it, as the voucher will have a year to choose and book their course.
